How To Use This Directory
The Nebraska Micro Business Resource Directory is intended to be a
resource for individual micro businesses and a reference tool for micro
and small business service providers, economic development agencies,
commercial lenders and others who encounter micro businesses looking for
assistance. The programs included in this directory are defined according
to the following categories: a practitioner program is an agency,
organization or program which is dedicated to providing lending,
training and other technical services directly to self-employed and
other micro businesses in Nebraska; a practitioner support program is
generally an organization which provides small business networking,
referral or other support services to practitioner programs. These
practitioner support programs may be government agencies or non-profit
organizations.
Micro Business Resources includes an alphabetic listing of programs. If you are looking for a micro enterprise program
but do not know which ones serve your county, consult the scroll down menu in the navigation bar above. Practitioner
Support Programs are listed alphabetic listing by program name and links to individual pages.
Some practitioner
programs are nearly statewide. As many as three icons describing
program activities may appear on the right-hand side of each directory
listing. A single program may have one or more of the following
characteristics described in the icon key below:
| Micro Lending Resources |
Technical Assistance & Training |
The dollar icon indicates that the organization
makes micro loans (business loans under $25,000). Most of these
organizations also provide some level of practical business training or
technical service assistance integrated with their lending services.
|
The training icon indicates that the
organization provides business training classes, one-on-one technical
assistance or other non-lending services which are primarily focused on
self-employed or other small and micro businesses.

| Practitioner Support Program |
NEON Member |
The statewide icon includes organizations,
often statewide, which provide various kinds of support to the local
level microenterprise practitioner programs. Examples of services
provided by practitioner support agencies include: grant funding or
access to lending capital to microenterprise organizations; holding
conferences or providing scholarship assistance to advance the staff
development of these programs; facilitating inter-program coordination;
providing referral services.

These agencies are members of
the Nebraska Enterprise Opportunity Network (NEON), the statewide
association of organizations supporing local small business development.
